June Hearts & Hammers Update
Here is the latest Facebook update from Hearts & Hammers. Take a moment to read about all the wonderful things happening in Joplin during the month of June...and we will be a part of that!
"EXCITING
NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE: 3 of the families who partnered with
Hammers and Hearts for new home construction will take ownership around
the middle of this month. The 4th home should also be completed within a
few weeks. Want more good new? 27 other homeowners who sustained
damage from the tornado, but have been unable to repair and in some
cases return home due to lack of funds will be
a part of our June and July blitz. Hammers and Hearts has partnered
with some amazing groups for the next 8 weeks. First Presbyterian of
Hastings, Nebraska - First United Methodist and Drops of Grace from
Round Rock, Texas - First Reformed Church from Randolph, Wisconsin -
Knox Presbyterian of Naperville, Illinois and Next Step Ministries of
Madison, Wisconsin are bringing 1101 volunteers into Joplin over the
next 8 weeks. Tools trailers are being loaded, projects list are being
studied and plans are in the work to help these 32 familes return to
homes that will soon have a new face lift. This is not the first rodeo
for any of the above groups. They have all worked with Josh and me on
other projects over the past year. They are commited, they have the
experience, the tools and the resources to make a positive impact on
this community and the families in need. Hammers and Hearts welcomes
them back for more unfinished business. One final note - Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Bigsley and their 82 year old father took possession of their home
yesterday after 7 months of extensive repairs. I applaud Josh Hipp for
managing this project and working so hard to bring this family home."
